Building confidence and community one kiddo at a time.
We use curriculum that best meets the needs of each individual student, so no two programs are exactly alike! We collaborate with classroom teachers whenever possible to offer seamless instruction, delving deeper into topics covered during class time.
Social Justice Curriculum.
Founding principles from Teaching for Change and Teaching Tolerance guides our community engagement. Not only do we explore current topics and issues, but we are also well-versed in the history behind those issues. We refer to community resources as much as is possible and appropriate to facilitate progressive content coverage and services for our families.
Youth-Centered and Trauma-Informed.
We take a mindful, student-centered approach to explore the complexities of social-emotional learning in the current pandemic climate. SYSS bases all interactions around a trauma-informed approach to teaching and learning so that social and emotional well-being and physical safety become inseparable from academics in our space.
